Hi,
Can some one help me with this problem.
When I take my laptop to Spain I cannot connect to the internet using the dial up modem.
It works fine in the uk and i have installed the telefonica software in Spain and pay a subscription for internet access.
I'm getting an error saying "no dialtone"
I guess this is because the dialtone is different to the uk.
I have told the laptop that it is in Spain and tried setting up using the network wizard without any luck.
Does anyone know if there are other settings I must change??
I'm running windows xp sp2
The modem is SoftK56 data fax made by CXT.
Thanks
v.Richard

(1) If dial tone detection is the only compatibility problem, you can disable that by putting
x1
in extra settings (init string) - www.modemsite.com/56k/initmagic.asp

(2) Set your dialing location -
Control Panel -> Phone & Modem Connections -> New -
set the country for Spain;
The CONNECTOID you create should have the 'dialing rules' checkbox checked, and when you click on the 'dialing rules' button, it should be set for Spain.

Aloha! Richard.
