Hallo Richard,

I hope you can deal with my problem again.

Thank you again for your help with the V92 update from my USR 56k. My old user name is MikeKilk. Unfortunately, I always had to unplug the modem, or my telephone was engaged, so I bought this Acer, which disconnects itself when not in use. Everything works okay except my modem on hold. The modem uses the BVRP Classic Phone Tools software again, but this time Net Wating which doesn't work. I've tried it on two different computers and although my callers are told that I am being informed that someone is waiting, I don't hear nothing and sometimes I get thrown out of internet. Net Waiting worked on the first computer till about the time I downgraded my grafik card. As you probably know the modem uses a conexant chip. On the first computer I had to choose between conexant modem #1 and #2 although I have only one card. On the new computer this doesn't happen - yet. I have tried to find out if the modem is using V92 and set the modem to the factory defaults with an AT command on the console.

Knocking works on my telephone when the computer is on and not in internet.

The new computer is a ECS K7SOM with a Duron 1400+ soldered onto the board.

It's very disappointing for me to be spending so much time on modems again, I hope you can help again. While I was posting this I got thrown out of internet - I presume I have lost yet another incoming call. DSL isn't available here. Here is the modemlog for this connection.

Thank you Mike

Hi Mike -
First problem I see from your modem log
Recv: <cr><lf>+MCR: V90<cr><lf>

That looks like the modem is saying it got a V.90, not a V.92 connection. V.92 is required for modem-on-hold; either the modem (or modem driver) doesn't support V.92, or the ISP modem you've reached doesn't.
Check your driver version - see if you can download a later V.92 driver.

Aloha! Richard.
