Peter H Tl Posts: 2 New Zealand | Posted - 4/24/2007 8:00:14 PM I'm running a 56K dial up modem. Has run ok till just recently when the speed dropped to 19.2Kbps, like overnight. I have had the line checked out by Telecom & all is ok. The technician connected his laptop to the line jack & his 56Kbps modem ran at 50Kbps. I replaced the modem with a new one, of same speed & it managed to run at 30Kbps. I have always (& it still is) set at the fastest option (921600bps). Is something conflicting with the modems performance? Can anyone help please? peter |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 4/28/2007 9:33:01 PM Something may have changed on your phone line either inside or between you and the telco or at the telco CO - or even beyond that affects the particular modem type you are using. To eliminate anything at your premises - do the 'demarc' test or equivalent - see Beyond that, you basically can't change things, so you would need to either try different modem type or check for different/later available driver or firmware for your modem. Aloha! Richard. |
Peter H Tl Posts: 2 New Zealand | Posted - 5/5/2007 9:38:47 PM Thanks for your reply Richard. The manual only states chipset is an "Intel HaM", & board has "J-3 D-X0 94V-O 0147" marked on it. Peter. peter |
