Hi Forum,

I have a question regarding v.92 modem on hold and connection speed. Being an ISP that serves customrs in a rural area, we often put in an extra setting to control their connection modulation to v34, us ing a string such as +MS=V34.
Since we are also a v.92 provider, with Modem on hold being quite popular, I've run into trouble when using the string. It seems to help fine for the connection, but with most modems it is not allowing the modem on hold to function(Conexant Modems) or it functions in a weird fashion(Lucent/Agere Modems). Does anyone have a suggestion for a string to help with the connection, but retain the v.92 features?
Any input would be greatly appreicated.

You might be able to use SPEED LIMIT commands - which vary based upon chipset -

This will set a maximum connect speed - effectively forcing the modem down to V.34 for connect speed, but without disabling v.92, so MoH still works.

Aloha! Richard.
