I was able to use a modem, with the necessary software, to phone out and receive calls when I was using Windows 98 and an older computer. I've upgraded to XP and a Dell Optiplex 745 and can't find a suitable voice modem with a speakerphone. I have been looking at modems on Internet but I'm not sure. I'd appreciated any help. A USB modem would be my first choice. Definitely not a serial one. Thanks a lot and CHEERS Graham |

Probably the best way if you still persist is to get a data/fax/voice/speakerphone modem which would allow you to connect audio in/out from the PC's sound card to the modem. A modem that is "data/fax/voice" can be very troublesome as generally they support voice only to extent of being an answering machine with third-party/kludgy software. www.modemsite.com/56k/voice.asp Faxing - Windows XP comes with a fax program, and I'm not aware of any modem that does not support fax.
