Hi There People

I am quadriplegic and unable to move at all. I was able to use a modem, with the necessary software, to phone out and receive calls when I was using Windows 98 and an older computer. I've upgraded to XP and a Dell Optiplex 745 and can't find a suitable voice modem with a speakerphone.

I have been looking at modems on Internet but I'm not sure.

I'd appreciated any help. A USB modem would be my first choice. Definitely not a serial one.

Thanks a lot and CHEERS

Graham

Graham Clarke again. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough in my previous post.

Please could apple anybody point me to a modem would enable me to use the modem as a telephone, to receive and to make calls and to fax.

Thanks very much. Cheers Graham

Windows XP comes with a program called "dialer" that will control any modem that XP recognizes (for dialing / on-off hook) - however, to actually get voice integrated to PC can be very complicated/iffy/unsatisfactory, etc.
I generally do not recommend trying to use a PC/modem for voice.
Probably the best way if you still persist is to get a
data/fax/voice/speakerphone modem which would allow you to connect audio in/out from the PC's sound card to the modem.
A modem that is "data/fax/voice" can be very troublesome as generally they support voice only to extent of being an answering machine with third-party/kludgy software.

Faxing - Windows XP comes with a fax program, and I'm not aware of any modem that does not support fax.
