Good day.

I picked up a Courier external V.34 modem from Ebay for cheap ($8) to primarily use for sending/receiving faxes with one of my systems; I knew that I could update the flash, but after doing some reading it appears that if I wish to update this older Courier to X2/V.90 I need to get a 'soft key' from USR to do so.

I called them up, and they had no clue what I was talking about. They did say that the modem was out of warranty (yup, that's what I guessed, haha!) so they really couldn't do anything for me.

I know someone on a Russian site had a hack firmware to enable x2/v.90 on these modems, but that site seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.

Anyone have any ideas? How do you enable (or even get) the soft key, what is needed? I'm guessing that you have to enter something into the modem and write it to the nvram.
