I have a newish Packard Bell notebook MH36 series, which came with Vista. I have since rebuild it with XP pro, and everything is fine except the modem does not work. I have tried loading the driver for Motorola SM56, but the operating system does not recognise that the modem is installed, and so does not load the driver. I assume that the modem is physically installed; the PB website indicates that my machine has a modem installed.
