I have a modem master 6000 manufactured by silicom internel modem installed. In the control panel/modem/diagonstics I get a error when I click the more info buttom. This is the error 'The modem failed to respond. Make sure it is properly connected and turned on. If it is an internal modem or it is connected, verify that the interrupt for the port is properly set.' Anyone no how to fix this?

I'm using windows 95. I installed it from the control panel/add new hardware. I even tried clicking modem and installing from there, I still get the same error.

I think this is a pnp modem and you can not use add new hardware to intall.remove the drivers, check the device manager for modem remove, remove any dial up connection in the dial up folder.shut down turn power off for a few minutes, power up and windows should find new hardware, just point it to the drivers.

Windows didn't detected any new hardware on start up, in the install new modem menu, or add new hardware menu. Any other suggestions?

No I don't have one. I don't think the windows 95 program had a driver file setup for my modem. I have windows 95 companion (I forgot to mention that.) This computer was given to me. I tried installing the modem again and now when I click diagnostics/more info I' getting OpenComm coudn't open port.

This is a very old modem and it is not a k56/V90 modem. Might need to look into a newer modem.I have seen some at office max that were free after the rebate. Check the device manager and disable any com port that is listed, remove the modem from the device manager, unknown device, other device and reboot. If windows can not find new hardware on reboot,go to the control panel and double click the modem icon, pick the modem from the list to install the drivers, this modem uses the pctel chipset, look for pctel 336
This modem supports pnp and should be found by windows. Check drivers and no setup file. Need to remove all listing of this modem from the pc in device manager, check the add remove program to see if any modem drivers are listed there.
Do a seach on this pc for this modem or pctel.

Make sure you disable the com ports in the device manager.

If 95 can not find the modem go back to pick from list.Look for pctel 33,6

Could it be possible that I'm missing some of the files to make it work? I did find a ptserial.pnp. Is this something I need? If so how do I install this?

I did find these files:
MDMCHIPV.INF
PCEYE.EXE
PTSERIAL.PNP
PTSERIAL.VXD
PTSNOOP.EXE
PTVCD.VXD
VMODEM.386
VPCTCOM.386
VVOICE.386

mising these files:
PTRTSYC.DLL
PCTPORTS.INF
PCTWAVE.INF
PTHSP.DAT
PTRTKR.DRV
PTRTSYC.DLL

I'll have to see if I can get someone to download them for me. Like I said before I'm using my webtv and you can't use tat to download. That's the downfall with that. Bummer!

Need to down load the drivers from the links above, you have the mdm drivers that come with windows. You need to check the web for modem install in 95,I think the problems you are having is the way you are installing the modem.
