for some reason, i can connect to juno's database to check e-mail, but when trying to connect to juno's internet service, it says that it microsoft windows can't detect my modem. this is weird to me because the modem will dial fine for other things.

i'm using a 3com 56k mini pci modem, dell c600 laptop, and windows xp. any help is appreciated.

What version of Windows do you have? What kind of modem do you have?
The settings you use to connect for e-mail and for Internet need to be checked -
how many connectoids do you have?
check/correct settings for your connectoids or create new one

Most Juno users connect to Juno using a modem. If this is your first time connecting to Juno using a modem, you will need to select your modem and then set up and select your access numbers.

In Juno 5.0: Go to the Connection menu and select Connect Using a Modem.

If this is the first time you are connecting to Juno using a modem, the Configure Modem screen will appear. This is the first screen of the Access Number Setup and Selection wizard; follow this wizard to set up your modem connection.

If you have connected using a modem before, your connection will be ready to use.

sorry was out of town.

anyway im using winXP and weird thing is when i select 'configure modem' under the connection menu, it already lists the 3com modem on there. but when i try to connect, it says microsoft windows can't detect.

i will try checking settings for internet and everything.

i will also check up on the connectiods.

i tried uninstalling the modem and manually adding it from a list. the list only gives me things like 'basic 9600 modem, 36000 modem, 56900 modem, generic modem'. i try 56000 modem and still doesn't work.

thanks for the help guys i'll update you later.

What Juno version are you using?
http://www.juno.com/support/modem/jn/20-no-setup-modem-auto.html

Might also check the connect using window in the connectoid.

i'm using the latest, 5.0.

i checked last night and everything is installed fine. my .ini file was last modified in the year of 2000-2001. could that be the problem? anyone know where i can get an updated .ini file for this modem?

also i tried deleting and recreating my connections. there were no dialup connections listed. only the lan connections. i tried the new connection wizard, and it wouldn't let me select 'connect with a modem' option.

To change the proxy server setting in Internet Explorer 5.0:

Start Internet Explorer.
Go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options.
Click the Connection tab.
In the Dial-up settings list, select Juno Web [or it may be Juno Web (Default)] and click Settings.
Under Proxy server, make sure the Use a proxy server check box is cleared and click OK.
In the Dial-up settings list, select Juno Web Backup and click Settings.
Under Proxy server, make sure the Use a proxy server check box is cleared and click OK.
Click OK to close the Internet Options screen.
Close Internet Explorer.
Close and restart Juno.

I do not think this is a driver problem more a setup or modem install. This modem has two parts, one is a lan and the other is a modem. I for now would stay with the dell drivers. What do you get when you double click modem in the control panel.

Also if you are not connect to a network I would disable the lan or nic card in the device manger.

ok checked under 'conenctions' tab. there are no connections listed. i tried adding one manually, but it won't let me select 'i connect to the internet with a modem'. it only has the 'lan' option available for me to choose.

how can this be possible?
