I appreciate you taking the time to help me. I have been over to an elderly neighbor's place mowing for her, so I haven't been at my computer. I will get the info for the modem post to you as soon as I can either get my external floppy drive hooked up to the laptop and copying the files to a disk or by copying the post by hand. It may take some time, but I'll get right to it. Thanks.

Okay...got my external BackPack floppy drive to finally work...had to burn the drivers to a cd on my main computer & load them from the laptop's cd-rom because I don't have an internal floppy drive on it. Oh well,....I hope the following is what you are asking for. I copied it from Hyperterminal.

I forgot to mention that the modem is now on Com Port 4. Also, in the ADVANCED CONFIGURATION SETTINGS should I have USE ERROR CONTROL checked? What about USE FLOW CONTROL, HARDWARE (RTS/CTS) or SOFTWARE (XON/XOFF) (which one) and MODULATION TYPE (Standard or Non-standard) checked?

use error control,use flow control,hardware should be checked.Click the view log and post.Need to see what the modem is dialing.MODULATION TYPE should be Standard.

Also check the connection properties.click the server type tab,Make sure there is no check mark in log on to network and the only thing that is check at the bottom is TCIP/IP

Have you tried one of the strings that was posted? The inf file is loading the modem on com4.

Try this in hyperterminal.

AT click enter

ATX3S32=128S10=200S25=100DTXXX-XXXX click enter.

I would also remove the dial up connection icon in the dial up folder and make a new one.
