cantgetcable Tl Posts: 14 USA | Posted - 3/8/2006 11:31:15 PM I recently purchased a creative de5621 v92 external, flashed firmware and d/loaded latest drivers and I couldn't be happier. until we got dsl at work. long story short, i am looking for the software to bond two 56K modems to increase up and down speeds! Anyone have a solution? (dsl...cable...not available...satellite 2 expensive...) Bill J Cunningham |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 3/10/2006 8:56:11 PM Multilink capability is built-in to Windows 95 through XP http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307849&sd=tech Search: Unless your ISP provides for multiple logins on same account, you will need 2 modems, and 2 ISP accounts. Aloha! Richard. |
cantgetcable Tl Posts: 14 USA | Posted - 3/11/2006 5:59:53 PM I admit I dont understand the technology, but will using 2 modems and two isp's with the windows multilink allow a faster connection (as far as up and down speeds?). or, will I have to use a program like midcore's midpoint connection software? or something else like it , as I believe midcore is defunct. I am trying to achieve as fast a dial up connection as possible. Bill J Cunningham |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 3/12/2006 4:28:43 PM You'll want 2 accounts at the same ISP (or a single account at an ISP that supports multilink); and, you don't need any special software. You will have more bandwidth = faster - but it still won't be 'close' to broadband. The latency (the time it takes a packet to make roundtrip from modem to your isp's first router & back) is on the order of 10 + times higher on dialup than with broadband. Aloha! Richard. |

Verizon says to keep checking for dsl availability but who knows if it will ever be here! I will try the dual modem setup and post about it in the future. Bill J Cunningham |
