Franc Zabkar Tl Posts: 11 Australia | Posted - 1/30/2002 3:35:00 PM Have you enabled software compression in DUN's Server Types configuration window? If not, then this would mean that your modem's "UART" is emulating a port rate much higher than the standard 115200bps. |

Hunter4u Tl Posts: 4 USA | Posted - 2/3/2002 8:06:56 AM yes that is where it is and it is enabled. just uninstalled and reinstalled modem and software and the same site i refer to i am gettting rates up to 52.0 now.. Is there any settings that i can tweak to make my regular downloads go faster than 4.7 to 5.0? Or is this limited to the site's i am downloading from? |
Franc Zabkar Tl Posts: 11 Australia | Posted - 2/3/2002 4:30:09 PM Much of your regular downloads would consist of compressed files such as ZIPs, GIFs, and JPGs. These cannot be compressed any further by your modem. OTOH, text based content such as HTML code, newsgroup postings, and the postings to this forum can usually be compressed by a factor of 2. |
