helengayle Tl Posts: 45 USA | Posted - 9/23/2003 7:42:58 AM Is it better to have an email checker in the systray that catches spam before it reaches Outlook Express or does it matter? Outlook express is probably not too big to minimize on the taskbar if you have 256 mb ram, right? I have an email checker (MailBell) but does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks. |

Windows - esp NT/2K/XP - is very capable of running apps simultaneously, so there should be no problem keeping e-mail & other apps open all the time. I really like POPFile - but with Outlook (not Outlook Express) Outclass is even better - Aloha! Richard. |
helengayle Tl Posts: 45 USA | Posted - 9/23/2003 9:14:48 AM Thank you Richard for your reply. I have Windows XP, Home Edition, 2.3 processor with Outlook Express only. You indicated thatI could leave Outlook Express open on the taskbar with no problem, as I understood you. I'm always a little concerned about spam and potential viruses going into OE's inbox, though, so I may keep my email checker on the systray. I have Norton but, these days, you never know what a virus might do to your computer. I was wondering what you thought and I'm unable to download Popfile or Outclass because I don't have Outlook. |

Unfortunately, there's no absolute guarantee that you won't get a virus - some of them get triggered even if a message is -previewed-! Norton is good so long as you keep it updated! Aloha! Richard. |
