asdfg Tl Posts: 1	Posted - 9/19/2000 2:36:33 PM       I installed my 56K performance pro modem today, and the testing/installation software didn't detect a dial tone. I reinstalled the whole thing, and I got the same result. So I just ignored it, and tried to connect to the internet. The first attempt to connect to the internet will always give a "no dial tone" error. Any attempts made soon after that will give a "modem not detected" error. And after that it will connect normally. Another weird thing that happened is that when my other computer connected to the internet, this modem went off the hook, and back on, and off again, etc. I think it disconnected the other one, too.

Remember, if you do, that settings in various programs - MSIE, Outlook, etc. can attempt to make a connection on a modem that you did not intend to use (or while you are already connected).
