Modem install OK....no conflicts in device manager; in control panel running diagnostics modem checks out OK...lights flash on modem. Try to dial with Dial up for ISp or Juno and modem sits there with 2 lights ....no error messages. Dial tone OK with phone conected in phone jack...no sound from modem while it says it is dialing.....now what?

Sounds like you may have more than 1 modem installed (and one of them may be phantom) and that your system is trying to use that instead of the real modem;\

Or, improper network/DUNS component install - try using DUMs to make a connection and see if you get a DUNs error; Also, try dialing with your modem using Hyperterminal.

One more thing to check. I've noticed that if you install a new modem, Windowz doesn't update your DUN connection. Right Click the DUN connection and choose properties. In the connection properties box that pops up, make sure that the modem listed in "connect using" is your new modem. If it isn't, just click the dropdown box and change it.
