Chuck12345 Tl Posts: 1 USA | Posted - 3/1/2001 9:28:09 AM I got a second line about 3 years ago just for the internet. My original line, which was installed about 20 years ago, connects at 49,333. Yet the new line they installed about 3 years ago connects at 21,600 to 26,400, NEVER higher. I've connected to the box outside my house and had no improvement what so ever, so I believe the ground line was installed wrong or poorly. I would like to multilink with 2 modems, but I can't if my second line is connecting so poorly. How could I get the phone company to fix this? I'm so frustrated, because everytime they claim to fix it I still connect at the same speed. I don't let on that its for my computer, I just say there's static. Now there's only a slight hum compared to my other line. Please HELP!! |

Most, if not all, states require every voice grade line to meet certain noise & transmission parameters. These tests take only a few minutes and are done at your dmarc. You can insist these be done and most decent telcos provide a written summary showing required specs and what your line actually measured. Don't let them buffalo you in "line tests ok". Make 'em prove it. Get busy making that call. |
