Does anyone know where to find modem DTR Status error
My problem deals with trying to dial in to BankofAmerica Home Banking with Managing Your Money.
This is different from logging on to the web bia AOL and going to online banking.
I have used this service for years on a Compaq computer
with various speed USR modems. When I upgraded to a
Gateway P4 computer back in December, 2000, I could not
get the dial-up to work. Since then the modem that came
with the computer went on the blank and I went out and
bought a USR Faxmodem PCI model 3CP5699A and still cannot dial in to the bank. I have no problem dialing AOL.
The errors I get are:
"Trying to set DTR Status (148832262). I get this error
when I first try to dial in after a re-boot. Then I get "Trying to set DTR Status (131078) after each additional attempt to dial in.
So far I have been unable to get any help on locating those two error codes so I can determine what is the problem.
The new computer is running Windows ME.
Any Suggestions?

DTR = DataTerminalReady which is a serial port (RS232) control signal specification.

The DTR signal is out-of-band (ie, not part of data) that tells the computer (DCE) that the modem is on / ready.

With internal software modems, the DTR signal - as well as the entire COM port - is virtual; control of the port (whether it is hardware or software) cannot be done directly by a program you run - ports are virtualized by Windows which emulates the actual hardware.

Bottom line - the error you are getting is more likely due to the inability of the program to locate a modem on the COM port it is trying to use; If you are using a modem that uses non-standard/virtualized COM port, and the MYM program communicates via hard-coded standard addresses, you will only be able to use it with a modem that can be installed in that manner (ie, get an external, not USB, modem).
