kltye Tl Posts: 19 Malaysia | Posted - 3/19/2001 6:28:07 AM I have an external USR voice modem (451663 - I don't think you people have heard of this model; it's an Asia External model). Just the other day, I saw that USR may have a v.92 update for their modems. So, I popped in my Connections CD, installed the Update Wizard, and of course, tried to update my code. Unfortunately, after detecting my modem, it says my modem cannot be flashed; it needs a hardware update. What on earth does this mean?! I know FOR SURE my modem can be flashed, since I've atttempted updating it before (there were no updates then). It seems like the wizard has stopped functioning all of a sudden. Why is this happening? |
IO ERROR Tl Posts: 9 | Posted - 3/27/2001 2:44:59 AM USR has a new ControlCenter for their 56K modems which will handle the V.92 upgrades. You can download it here: http://www.usr.com/v92/v-download.asp If it says "your modem is not supported" then you are out of luck. If it says "no upgrade available at this time" then you just have to wait for it. -- |
kltye Tl Posts: 19 Malaysia | Posted - 3/30/2001 1:01:11 AM Hey, thanks for your info, but the software still gave me an error message of sorts: Could not detect a supported USR modem... *Sigh* What on earth could be wrong? |
Kevin Wynne Tl Posts: 6 Ireland | Posted - 3/30/2001 12:49:50 PM I downloaded the same file and it gave the same message to me. It couldnt find a supported USR modem on my system! If it was human, I would ask it to explain how I downloaded the stupid program in the first place! |
kltye Tl Posts: 19 Malaysia | Posted - 3/30/2001 4:27:57 PM I'm beginning to wonder if this is due to the fact that I'm suing an Asia External model. Maybe the software hasn't extended support to Asian models yet. Kevin, what model are you using? |

Kevin Wynne Tl Posts: 6 Ireland | Posted - 4/3/2001 11:44:58 AM The product code for it is: 802884 A It is an internal PCI USR 56k V90 modem |
zaqplm Tl Posts: 1 | Posted - 4/6/2001 9:33:10 PM I also have the same problem, after downloading Control Center, it doesn't detect my modem. My product code is 455668-01 Asian External Model, 56K Message Modem. I've emailed USR, see what they reply. |
kltye Tl Posts: 19 Malaysia | Posted - 4/6/2001 9:36:56 PM I think USR really screwed up this time; offering code updates for "many" modems (actually, I think it's only a couple of models). *sigh* Anyway, for those who are curious, I'm using a 451663 model (Windows 95 detects it as USR 56K Voice/Fax modem EXT and Windows 98/ME/2000 detects it as Sportster Flash V.90 PnP; hmmm... sounds a little fishy here) |
