glentek Tl Posts: 1 | Posted - 5/24/2001 8:23:31 AM After playing around with different drivers, I was surprised to see that I can connect to my ISP at 115200 bps :) Does anyone have an explanation for this? (FWIW, my dial up connection to my place of employment still connects at 28k or less. Only the connection to my ISP is at 115k). Thanks. |
SARGE Tl Posts: 743 USA | Posted - 5/24/2001 12:22:24 PM Congrats, as max speed in U.S. is 53k. Seriously, what you're seeing is modem to pc (port speed). You need an extra setting under modem properties to get a true report of connect speed. Depending on modem, try either w2 or s95=1 |

SARGE Tl Posts: 743 USA | Posted - 5/25/2001 8:10:52 PM OK, I reread the post. My answer is "beats me". I have 2 #'s for my ISP. Always connect in 40's using either #. Recently, dialing the other line, I get a report of 115200. Haven't done any changes, etc. on pc/modem since Jan. Actual connect speed is still in 40's, but for some reason dialing this other # indicates the 115200. I'm not fixing to worry about it, though. |
