I just purchased a USR 56K external with the new V.92 standard.Problem is, I cannot connect higher than 26,400K with this thing. In addition, the control center software cannot recognize the modem even though its showing up correctly under Win98 SE. I put my other modem (also a USR 56K external but it is a v.90)
back on my PC, and connecting at 49,666K again. What is going on? I know my ISP doesnt support the new V.92 standard but 3Com's documentation that came with the modem states that the modem will connect at V.90 if V.92 isnt available.

It seems that I need to add an init string to disable V.92, but cant find what that should be. Any help is appreciated.

See
www.808news.com/56k/v92c.htm - V.92 commands
the +PIG - V.92 upstream command may be needed with the USR.

Richard
