hi all
i have a usr/3com 2976 modem its a full hardware 56k
modem v90/voice.
i have been going threw hell trying to get strings for this thing i am kinda new at this i had a aceex modem
and i was able to set the perameters up as far as my
speeds but when i changed my mother board the mother
didnt like the modem i was told to buy the 2976 modem
but i found out that its a oem modem and usr wont suport it that ticks me off they built and they
should suport it.
this thing wont hook up eany higher then 28800
90% of the time at 24000
i am looking for a string and ware do i put the speed
setting in the string
all so what numbers and or letters will equile a speed
like U29 equiles 288000 or N36 equiles 52000

A string can't make the modem connect any faster than it can with proper default string (ie, no extra settings).

You should do test calls using Hyperterminal to your - and other -ISPs, first giving the modem AT&F1 to reset to factory defaults.

You should also do the a/d conversion check in Hyperterminal

The USR commands require the ampersand, letter & numeric value, ie &U20&N20
