Anthony Buckland Tl Posts: 5 Canada | Posted - 7/11/2001 3:42:14 PM I'm beginning to suspect from my problems that it isn't, salesperson's claims to the contrary. Phone Tools, I discover, reconfigures itself according to which modem type you claim to have, leaving the voice and answering machine capabilities hidden unless you specifically claim to have a voice modem. Just hand it the USR when you install Phone Tools, and it shows only fax and data panels. Claim to have a voice modem in the configure subprogram and it will open the voice panel, but then you just get a scream if the answering machine tries to answer a voice call. So is or isn't the 5686D a voice modem (I haven't had any luck trying to get this from the USR site). And if it isn't, what is? Thanks for any help._ |

I was hoping to use my vacant serial port for this job, but USR's only external serial voice modem seems to be the no-longer-available 5605. |
