This is a challenge:
Winmodem Sportster Voice ISA, ATi3 and ATi7 return "US Robotics 56k WIN INT RS Rev. 2.60.002" and "Germany Internal". Capable of X2 and V.90.
In Win95 it connects without problems at 56k (in fact never lower than 49k).
Installing Win2000 on the same PC produces the following problem:
The modem is automatically detected as USR6020 and installs as "3Com Windows Modem TI" on COM3 (port Speed is set to 115k). But now it connects at max. 33k. I checked the INF-File that it is using, MDM3CISA.INF. The connection response values end with the V.34 section, but the SYS-File that it uses, the 3CISATI.SYS (opened in a Hex-Editor) is obviously capable of X2 and V90 connections (it fact it seems to be more or less the same than the old VXD-File from Win95). So well, that's an easy one: I entered the values for X2 and V90 (in fact copied them from the MDM3COM.INF), and included the new X2 and V90 Sections within the "AddReg"-Line in the [WM_Device.NT] Section of the INF-File, uninstalled the modem in the Control Panel, and rebooted. Again, the Modem is automatically installed as previous, but still connects at max. 33k, although it states being capable of X2 and V90.
Any Ideas?...

I had the same problem with my USR6006 (Dell OEM,
upgraded to V90, fine with WIN98, V34 only with WIN2000). I've been trying for a fix since May! No
joy from anyone. I tried the same munging of the INF
as well. How confident are you of the MDM3CISA driver?

Well, how sure can you be from opening a system-file in an Hex-Editor. In fact I don`t know much about programming, but at least I can read the clear text on the right side of the hexworks-editor. Cross-check it with the Win95 Drivers...
Those guys from USR, guess they just want to sell more modems rather than suppling drivers for them. Not with me! Promise, that this one is my last USR.
