Hello all,

Here's all details abt modem that I have:

3Com copyright 1998

FCC REG. NO: 4X2USA-25314-M5-E

The chip is:
3Com
AD1806JS
ERF0172A-0.4
9943

SN: 13CAA21F6F57
Product: 3C0426297400-83010

Another label is (I think it's Dell label):

I couldn't get driver from 3Com, USR and DELL. I check this modem in DELL website and they have this model (0002513E) as a refubished modem.

Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Bob. I'll give it a try right away.
By the way, this modem has 4 pin jack internet which I believe it's for voice.

What problem did you have?

Did Windows detect any new hardware on startup?

Well, I'm getting conflicting data here, got more info that now ID's the modem as a 2974 (662974-81).

Might try these:
ftp://ftp.usr.com/oem/coyote/2974/

Bob,

I just tried coyote, but it didn't work. Windows hardware detected PCI communication modem, but coyote is not the right driver for it.

Hi Bob,

Finally, I got driver for this modem from ftp1.us.dell.com/comm/coyote98.exe. Now, I face a problem which is no dial tone. Does it mean the modem is dead?
Thanks.

Don't know Steve, it's hard for me to pin this one down. Can't find anything more than you have on Dell's site and the FCC ID number just leads me back to the two modems I pointed out.

Steve, I have the same chipset in my OEM Dell. My modem is a 3 Com USR 56K/V.90 PCI Winmodem. Dell says it is a Coyote but I don't think it is. It is my understanding that the Coyote has a Micron chipset. I have used the Dell driver coyote 98 and it does not work properly for me. I connect only @ 28.8 (yuck). I have posted on this but I guess they forgot about me. LOL Anyways I found this list of drivers for that chipset here.

http://www2.driverguide.com/cgi/dfsearch.pl

There are several so try one or try em all. GL

Hello Steve, I've been trying to installa a USR modem that came with a DeskPro XL 575 with any results. Win 95 finds the modem but then when I try to install it in sever different ways, I fail.
Has a 671-9372 Micron MK 6490
US Robotics PD17238PJ Chip and another saying 6BaldFJ TL16cfm600apjm.

I don't know if this is compq (hate compaq) or some other OEM.
Thank you very mucho for your help in advance.

Have a good day
