CrazyCol Tl Posts: 2 USA | Posted - 10/5/2001 10:40:01 AM I can't find the Sportster M#478 on the USRobotics page. I got the product code finder #87173100 to identify it but that didn't help. I need drivers to install in WIN95 as it will not auto-detech it. It also has on it that it is a Gateway2000 TelePath #639 for Windows w/x2 Tech. MFD by US Robotics 1.012.0478-B FCC #CJEUSA-2417?-M5-E. Got it used, it listed it as a USR 56k WINMODEM ISA. WHAT IS IT? If anyone can give me any info on this modem I'd appreciate it!!!!

joebunda Tl Posts: 6 USA | Posted - 10/5/2001 2:23:18 PM I have a similar modem- it was a 33.6 telepath but I downloaded an "upgrade" from gateways support site. The "upgrade" flashed the mpdem to 56k. Look at gateways techie/support site -that's where I found drivers for mine. |
Bob Starnes Tl Posts: 4360 USA | Posted - 10/5/2001 3:21:34 PM USR OEM modem for Gateway, should be a Gateway part number on the modem somewhere that you can match up. http://www.gateway.com/support/product/drivers/modem/index.shtml |
CrazyCol Tl Posts: 2 USA | Posted - 10/5/2001 5:51:42 PM I already found the Gateway2000 part #6000639 UPGRADE. I can't upgrade the modem until WIN95 auto-detechs it or I can somehow install it first. THAT IS MY PROBLEM. How do I install the modem, under what modem type and drivers. In the upgrade it gives me an error message YOUR MODEM CANNOT BE UPGRADE WITH THIS UPGRADE FILES. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR MODEM VENDOR. The modem should already read "TELEPATH FOR WINDOWS WITH X2" That's what I can't seem to do. Please can someone HELP!!!! |
Bob Starnes Tl Posts: 4360 USA | Posted - 10/5/2001 9:55:45 PM Which file did you download? If you got the "V.90 Driver" then I believe that's a V.90 firmware upgrade, not the modem drivers. Try the "Telepath for Windows Fax Modem x2 driver" for installing the modem. |
joebunda Tl Posts: 6 USA | Posted - 10/6/2001 8:10:10 AM Go to control panel, remove the modem there. Then shut down your pc. Physically remove the modem. Rebooot. Then shut down again. Reinstall the modem physically and reboot. Windows should plug n play - if not, are your jumpers set correctly? There is a banl of 3 jumpers that are for com port settings - all 3 should be "un"jumped allowing PNP. After windows pnp's and installs the drivers then you can run the upgrade program from gateway.. Good luck |
