This is the picture of the PCMCIA V.Everything 33.6:

Does anyone know what model ID(s) this thing had, what chipset, and if it can be flashed to 56K?

I tried the USR and the 3Com websites, even called USR. USR could not look up an FCC ID and find anything!

By the way, USR has been a private company since some time in 2000. I suppose this allows a lot of products to fall between the cracks.

Need a manual for it:
ftp://ftp.usr.com/3Com%20Courier%20Modems/1024696.pdf

And drivers (Win95)

Actually, I was thinking of buying one, but wanted to know first if it could be flashed to 56K, and what kind of dongle it uses.

From the little info I could squeeze out of USR customer service, my guess is that I could easily get it to run at 33.6, but that there is no flash to 56K. The "V.Everything" name fooled me - I had assumed it could be flashed like the external Couriers.

And - I could end up with a $5 modem and have to buy a $20 dongle.

Only firmware upgrade I saw for it at USR's FTP site was dated '96 and I doubt that is for X2 or V.90

In case it can give me any further clues, what's the link? I went to ftp://ftp.usr.com/3Com%20Courier%20Modems/ but didn't know which one might be relevant.

Thanks.

By doing a tiny bit more searching (entering "SDL" on the USR website search page), I found the model number, 00101505:

http://usr.com/support/s-cour/s-cour-downloads.htm

That page says:

Flash Rom code for Courier V.Everything PC Card - This code will only work on modems with serial numbers that begin with 00101505

sdl0716.exe
file size: 373740 bytes file date: 06-04-96
