I'm about to buy a 56k performance pro v.92 or v.90 to subtitute a lucent 56k pci v90. My download rate is 5,5kb/s and my ping games ( quake 1, quake3) is 150ms. 2- The v.92 protocol will troublemy conection if my internet provider does'n have that protocol? thx!! []'s |
Troubled_user Tl Posts: 263 USA | Posted - 3/5/2002 7:04:52 PM I don't recommend buying a USR modem at ALL. They are much worse than they were before. Chances are, you'll get LOWER connects and speeds. By the way, a 150 ping is fairly decent and the download rate 5.5 corresponds to a connect in the 40's (mid to upper). What's your connect rate? |

Troubled_user Tl Posts: 263 USA | Posted - 3/6/2002 7:14:21 AM Your LT winmodem seems to be functioning quite well. You aren't going to get any better with another modem. One thing to keep in mind is that the lucent DSP can be software upgradable, and uses about 3% of your processor. Although a hardware modem uses less processor, it must be flashed. Flashing is risky, as it could damage your modem. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" |
