Need help on why my connect speed is 50% of time at 44k and 50% at28.8, with odd time at 36k or so. This happens on two lines into the house. Up to 6 months ago I always got 44k. Had a computer crash about same time and made sure drivers etc were right..but no change.Also confirmed nothing else connected to phone line in the house and no audible noise on line. Running Windows98 with USR 56k voice internal modem OEM. Checked with ISP but they say their equipment should support 56k at v90, etc. all the time; its an Ascend machine. Have included hyperterm reports on a 28.8k and a 44k session. Downloaded the same 1Mb ftp file from my ISP in both cases. From report and my limited knowledge, I think problem may be on trunk side of CO; I beleive copper loop may be long but terminates on an integrated remote terminal with fiber to CO. So line side should be rather stable. Problem is the same any time of day.
