Is there any way to stop a modem from speed shifting? This really doesn't fit into any category, but it's an annoyance. My friend has an OEM 3com WinModem, and it likes to shift between 49333 and 52000. I tried my LT WinModem, it shifts between 45333 and 48000. I limited connect speeds on both of them, and it would first connect at 40000, then shift all the way up to 49333, and do the same thing again!!! +MS=V34,0 (s32=98) "fixed" the problem, but my friend, as you imagine, is the most displeased of a 28.8 connect!!

Yes you can but I would not do so.

ok, then I'll just forget it... Would any devices/interference cause this shifting behavior? Both modems don't shift at my house, and all of my modems shift at his house.
