ON STARTUP UNDER PERFORMANCE I HAVE 92% FREE WITH 94
MB RAM. IRQ SETTING 4 IS ONLY USED BY MY MODEM. THE
ANSWERS TO QUESTION ASKED BY CHARLES OF ME. AND SOME MORE QUESTION BY ME FOR CHARLES OR ANY ONE ELSE OUT THERE.

PHONE COMPANY FOUND THAT MY LINE FROM THE CENTRAL
OFFICE TO THE STREET BOX HAD HIGH NOISE LEVEL. THEY
CHANGED THE PAIRS FROM CENTRAL OFFICE TO ANOTHER PAIR.
I HAD A GAIN ON WIN MODEM FROM 28800 TO 31200, BUT IT
IS SLOWER THEN THIS 3COM AT 24000.

I JUST DID A DRIVER UPDATE FROM THE 3COM FILE I FOUND
AT USR SITE THAT WAS FOR MY EXACT MODEM ID. I NOW HAVE
JUMPED FROM 21600 TO 24000. ADDING THE COMMAS ONLY
SLOWED ME DOWN. 4 COMMAS CONNECTED ME AT 2400 AND 6
WOULD NOT CONNECT ME AT ALL. 1-2 DID NOTHING I STILL
CONNECTED AT 24000.

IF MY MODEM IS VERSION 4.7.32 AND THERE IS A 5.0 OUT
THERE HOW DO I GET THAT? IS THIS ONLY BY A FLASH?
SHOULD I REMOVE THE PNP JUMPER? MY OLD DRIVER WAS
MDM3COM.INF FROM 4/23/99 MY NEW ONE IS 3COM661787.INF
FROM THE SITE:

http://www.usr.com/support/doc-popup-template.asp?url=/support/s-modem/test.htm#1732

FROM MODEM LOG AND MODEM CHECK I AM CONNECTING WITH
V34, HOW DO I GET MY MODEM TO WORK AT V90? IT IS
LISTED AS AN OPTION IN THE MODEM LOG ATTACHED BELOW?

IS THERE A STRING SETTING TO FORCE IT TO OPERATE AT
V90 LIKE I WAS ABLE TO DO WITH MY WIN MODEM? COULD
FIND NOTHING AT MODEMSITE ABOUT THE STRING SETTING TO
GET THE V90 TO WORK ON MY SPOETSTER, BUT I MAY HAVE
OVERLOOKED IT.

I HOPE YOU HAVE THE TIME TO ANSWER EACH OF MY ABOVE
QUESTION, SO THAT I WILL HAVE MORE KNOWLEDGE ON MY
MODEM/S.

SNR (dB) 31 SNR - This field indicates the Signal to Noise Ratio. This is not always a true measure of the SNR (due to digital impairments), but if a low SNR is found, it is one of the best indications of noise issues.
SNR 31-34 28,800-31,200
Is there a way you could take this pc to a friends house that has a good 56k connect? Have you tried to connect to the telco box outside?
