I am impressed(flabbergasted) with all the info on this site, I appreciate all the hard work.

Here is my problem:(Your assistance and guidence is appreciated).

I have a Router(Cisco) in Bangladesh, I need to access it via modem to do some programming.

Canada:
I have a 3Com-U.S Robotics 3056(PCMCIA)(New)

Bangladesh:
There is a U.S. Robotics 56K FaxModem(External)(New)
Using HyperTerminal to connect.
I don't have a PC there to go into the modem (I can flip dip switches)

I have an exact setup in L.A.(But I can get in there just fine).

The phone line we are dialing works great for voice.

What is happening: The modem answers I am able to get into the router, I can get info then about a Minute in, the call is dropped, (I get the NO CARRIER MESSAGE).Or I get CHARACTERS(Garbage).

I can change settings readily on this side, I tried lowering the speed even to 1200, hardware/software flow controls, buffer speeds, similar results.

My thoughts:
-This may due to the quality of the physical lines.
-The local Telco equipment may not work well with the new
modems.
-Will try different carriers next (Using Calling cards for
this.(There is no gurantees)(Lot of carriers are using
VoIp or are compressing the bandwidth where the modems are
failing to hold the connection)

I know I may be asking for a lot.
There is a lot of info out there.
Could you point me in the right direction?

Your time is appreciated,
Take Care,
Brian.

After you get disconnected, check & post here the call diagnostics on your modem
ati6i11
www.modemsite.com/56k/diag3com.asp

the i6 display will, among other things, show the reason the call was disconnected.

Aloha! Richard.
