Lansdown Tl Posts: 3 USA | Posted - 7/19/2000 12:18:34 PM I purchased this modem about two years or so ago and all of a sudden I have been having tons of problems with being disconnected from the my ISP without warning multiple times in a row. I also have been getting dropped from modem to modem gaming after an average of 12-17 minutes as well as experiencing the "hyper-slip" when units seem to "slip" to a different position very quickly. I have talked to the ISP and phone company and neither are apparently having any problems. For a while now it seems that the modem will disconnect from the ISP at least once everytime I go online. I also have been seeing that a few people are having trouble connecting at speeds over 33,600 or so, I have been having this trouble as well. Is it time to go out and get a new modem or can this one be salvaged? Any help or suggestion is welcome, thanks in advance for the assistance . |

v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 7/27/2000 9:48:02 PM You don't have valid results in your screens - Make sure HyperTerminal is connected to the COM port, not the modem name. www.808news.com/56k/x2-hyperterm.htm and try again; or make the test call from HyperTerminal itself www.808news.com/56k/usehyper.htm Aloha, |
Lansdown Tl Posts: 3 USA | Posted - 7/28/2000 5:34:34 PM I made sure that Hyperterm was looking at com 3 which is where the modem is. v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 8/6/2000 10:45:43 AM You are not getting 56k; My guess is you are on incompatible for 56k digital SLC. Your upstream rate is showing 33.6k while downstream at 28.8k; I would suggest disabling 3429 and possible other symbol rates to reduce your connect speed & see if problem goes away. Also include disable 56k in your string. ATs$ in hyperterminal will display s-register settings to disable symbol rates. Disable 56k: www.808news.com/56k/trouble2.htm Aloha, |
