fairchild Tl Posts: 5 | Posted - 7/20/2000 9:49:15 AM Ok its not as simple as that, i know u cant get 56k so save urself explainations why u can't... the problem is that although im getting a v.90 connection (e.g. higher than 33k) but not high enough, its roughly abt 37-38k... i have a dedicated phone line 4 the internet(e.g. no splitters, long cables, etc) and the phone line is decent quality... my old Aztech winmodem got speeds of 44-48k... so what the hell is the problem?! i changed 2 an external modem because it was supposed 2 be better quality than winmodems and it works with Linux... ive phoned 3com, bt, worldonline, localtel... all useless... can any1 help? plz, i cant handle it nemore!! SARGE Tl Posts: 743 USA | Posted - 7/20/2000 11:53:23 AM Have you tried this procedure with #'s from Richard's site http://www.808news/56k/trouble4.htm. Using the same connection, keep typing ati6 until the site disconnects you. BTW, what was the SNR for ati11? |

v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 7/21/2000 5:39:44 PM It appears you are not in the USA? i11 showing a-law codec type; the server you are calling is set for max xmt level of -13dbm (in US it normally is -12), and cannot compensate for digital pad; Bottom line: to the # you are calling on the phone facilities you have, you're unlikely to do better without either an improvement in firmware for the server modems, or improvement in firmware for your modem, or phone company changing facilities used to provide service....
