Mark MacDonald Tl Posts: 1 Canada | Posted - 1/26/2004 8:05:13 PM I upgraded from Windows 95 to Windows 98 on an old computer that I just use to receive faxes so I don't want to spend much money on it. I formatted my hard drive and installed Windows 98 from scratch so then I had a hard time trying to get drivers for everything. I finally found drivers for my Rockwell Modem RC144AxF and I was able to get my modem and fax software to work. HOWEVER now everytime I reboot my computer it detects NEW SOFTWARE called "wave device for voice modem" and I have to click through it and cancel it so that I don't EVER get a clean boot. I read somewhere that this problem involves Windows files rather than modem or sound card files but it is VERY IRRITATING. I don't need to install this feature which I understand involves "voice" so I just want to stop the problem of rebooting and always detecting "new" hardware. Mark |

If you are prompted for a file location when installing the wave driver for voice modem, you need to direct to your Windows CD then you can disable it in the device manager. |
