I have an ASUS A7V8X-X motherboard and a 56kps PCI data/fax/voice modem with the name "LM-I56N" installed on com5. Im using Windows 98 SE.

The modem works fine for dialing numbers.

My speakers are working OK and my microphone works fine with the windows voice recorder and Yahoo messenger.

I'd like to use the PC as a phone - dialing numbers with Outlook and using headphones and mic.

The problem is that when I call I can hear the other person talking, but they cant hear me - the modem doesnt seem to pick up the mic.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks for any help.

Go to Windows Volume Control (mixer); click Options / Properties; select 'Recording', then adjust microphone & phone mute/volume.

Aloha! Richard.
