What is the driver version you have installed?
Please post a modem log.If you have a network card and not using it disable in device manager.Check your dialup setting on ideal time before hanging up.
If you have your email running in the background say outlook express and you have it set to check for new mail every 5 minutes and have it set to hang up after sending and receiving. Check under tools, option, connection.

Program settings: like e-mail, etc - if set to automatically make a connection and to use a connectoid different from the one you are connected on can cause disconnection. Check all program options / eliminate any connectoids that you don't need/use
NIC - sometimes can cause problem
Post your modem log
