Can anyone help me? I was using a US Robotics 56k external modem on my XP system with Duron PCU but I am pretty sure a lightning storm took it out the modem. So I got a Conexant/Rockwell model 11229-13. and ever since I installed it my pc will not shut down and instead it reboots. I took the modem out and tried other slots and I also tried shutting down without the modem in and PC shut down fine so I know it is the modem. I also d'loaded the generic drivers from conexant homepage but they did not stop the problem. And I noticed an IRC reply in another post but that did not do the trick either. Can anyone help me out?

Thank you

charles

Did you remove the other modem from the device manager? Do you have any listing in the device manager that is listed as unknown device?
What is the FCCID number on the modem.Might just be the drivers. This would be the HCF modem

Did you untick the automatic re-start as per
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=320299
(from Charles' prior post) ?

Aloha! Richard.
