NELSHELEN Tl Posts: 2 United Kingdom | Posted - 11/25/2004 4:06:40 AM Hi, I have rebuilt my laptop with a clean install of XP pro. However, the modem (an Agere Toshiba Software Modem)will not dial out. When 'queried'in device manager, it says: "The port that the modem is attached cannot be opened. This may be the result of a hardware conflict. Check the device manager to verify all devices are functional" There are no hardware conflicts in 'Device Manager', and I get the same message if I try to change the 'Com' settings. I have installed the latest XP driver from the Toshiba site, but still get the message! Can anyone help...please. Thanks in advance NELSHELEN |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 11/25/2004 6:03:30 PM You cannot use 'Add new Hardware' to isntall the modem. What you describe is consistent with an attempt to install the modem improperly. Uninstall. Run the www.modemsite.com/56k/lucentamr.asp Aloha! Richard. |
