Not all 33.6k modems are capable of being upgraded to 56k - as some do not have necessary hardware. Not sure if your model is or isn't capable. If you can't find anything at USR try Aloha! Richard. |

Leo Oliveira Tl Posts: 7 Brazil | Posted - 1/4/2005 6:22:14 PM ![]() ![]() ![]() Another question....this site has a firmware upgrade to my modem but it is for model 0017102 and mine is 0017100... Aparently my bios date is 12/18/96, wich i saw printed on a chip. Does the software recognise if my model is actualy upgradeble (sorry for misspells) or it needs to force the firmware to see if it is? Can it be reversed?

v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 1/5/2005 9:53:33 AM ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Using Hyperterminal, give your modem command at i7 it should display model/firmware revision data, etc. Copy&post in reply please. There is always risk - even with correct firmware - of winding up with a 'dead' modem after a flash. The flash software does *some* checking on what modem is connected. A flash can be reversed IF (a) the flash was successful, and (b) you have the old firmware flash file. (There may be something there to force a Sportster that's got corrupted flash into a boot mode? - been a long time since I dealt with this....) Aloha! Richard. |
Leo Oliveira Tl Posts: 7 Brazil | Posted - 1/8/2005 11:35:37 AM ![]() ![]() ![]() here is my information from hyperterminal:
Product type US/Canada Internal EPROM date 12/18/96 EPROM rev 2.0 |
Leo Oliveira Tl Posts: 7 Brazil | Posted - 1/8/2005 11:38:43 AM ![]() ![]() ![]() I have almost forgoten to ask another thing...there is any program to extract my current firmware so i can creat a backup? And how can i open the line port so i can record an fone call? i have connected the modem's line out to the sound card's line in. ive tried some commands in hyperterm but i can't get the port continuously openned. And there is any prog to enhance the voice imput? tks again! Leo |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 1/13/2005 8:42:42 PM ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Nothing I know of to extract/save firmware that's already in the modem. Opening port - done by a comm program - like Hyperterminal? Aloha! Richard. |
Leo Oliveira Tl Posts: 7 Brazil | Posted - 1/18/2005 6:34:50 PM ![]() ![]() ![]() I tryed to update the firmware but the modemflasher program said that my modem was not a sportster flash. I checked my modem and the model number was 00117100 and on the page http://flasher.webzone.ru/ it was listing the model 00117102 as upgradable.... there is any possibility that my modem can be upgraded??? thks again |
v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 1/19/2005 12:33:09 PM ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The -## at end represents successive releases of 'similar' products. I am not certain about your particular model, but not all 33.6k Sportsters are upgradeable - older ones didn't have sufficient processing power/memory to handle 56k code. Aloha! Richard. |
Leo Oliveira Tl Posts: 7 Brazil | Posted - 1/20/2005 7:38:12 PM ![]() ![]() ![]() I've tried everything but nothing happenned...tried usr ftp and SMF even forcing it to flash but it was no good.... Anyway thanks for the help and attention you dispensed. best regards Leo |
