Hi,

I live in a remote area where most modems connect at 21.6K. Can anyone recommend a modem that's very good on bad lines? Specifically, I'm looking for a modem you've found to connect faster than others over the same phone line. I know there's gotta be something out there somewhere...

I can use external, internal, or PCMCIA (I have several computers). It has to be a hardware modem, no winmodem or software modem, because I use both Windows & Linux.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

The OLD USR models (Sportster or Courier) would be my choice - EBay or some other place that sells used modems....

Aloha! Richard.
