My previous PCI card modem would connect at about 45 kbps but the new USR connects at 38.6 kbps as indicated by the icon in my system tray. I have talked at length with USR and they were able to get the speed up from 33.6 to 38.6 by having me update the driver. Why can't I get my previous 45.6 connection speed? I am using the same ISP, my phone line checks out, and USR diagnostics per Ati 6 command reports v92. This site is great, and I have tried a few commands using hyperterminal but quite frankly, I have never had to troubleshoot a modem before and don't know where to start with this. Thanks for any help. |
Will91 Tl Posts: 2 USA | Posted - 5/18/2005 11:18:14 PM I should add that the number I am dialing into my isp is the same as when I was using an internal PCI card modem and that line is listed at v90/56k. Using other dial in numbers for my ISP does not change my connection speed one bit from the 38.6. |

If you are using a line cord that has 4 wires running through, try with line cord that has only 2. Also try demarc test - www.modemsite.com/56k/demarc.asp
