I have a Agere Systems AC'97 in a HP laptop. It's attached to com 3, and the query modem in properties works fine, so the modem works. I have dialed out using hyper terminal. But when I create a connectoid, it wants to use com 1 and never sees there is a modem on com 3. So dial up networking never works. Thank heaven for wireless networking and DSL. Any ideas?

When you create a connectoid, you don't want to tell it to use a COM port, you want to tell it to use the modem friendly name (Windows name for modem).
