I am unable to get the modem to send faxes. The modem dials as if everything is OK and then a background fast busy signal occurs and the outgoing connection never happens -- the line just rings. Has anyone had a similar problem? This has happened using 2 different fax softwares. Thanks. :)

Interesting question. How do you diagnose FAX calls?

I'd start with your FAX software and see if it had any diagnostics to invoke. Otherwise, I'd guess and wonder if you had a matching baud rate for the other end? But you think that the call didn't even connect due to the "fast busy signal"? Maybe the other end isn't available? (E.g. if it is a computer too and it has ATS0=0 it won't answer.) That should just be a normal ring though (unless it really was busy on another call...). You could try dialling using Hyperterminal and at least that way see what your modem thinks.

One last idea. Even if you don't have Symantec's software you might get some more ideas from their online troubleshooter.

Good luck
