All of sudden did not have a modem, bought new one but it wont let it install, also device manager has nothing showing in it. Any ideas?

Did you take out the old modem physically?
If not, you may need to remove the old modem in order to install a new one.

More info on what kind of system, operating system, modem, etc. you have would be needed to give you more specific reply.
