Dennis Singstock Tl Posts: 1 USA | Posted - 8/3/2006 9:14:41 PM I am trying to dial up an ISP that is located in another area code about 200 miles away. I can call their number on the regular telephone and I get into the modem on their site without problems. However 99.9% of the time when I dial through a modem I get a message that states "The phone company you are trying to call is experiencing difficulty please call back at a later time. I did connect a couple times for a short period of time last night but that is the only time I got through without getting that message. The telephone always gets through. Can anyone explain what is happening? Tried 3 modems on 3 computers. The number I was trying to reach is (715)654-6435 (Northern Wisconsin.) |

Check your connectoid properties, and DIALING RULES www.modemsite.com/56k/connectoid.asp To see what number is actually being dialed, check the modem log - (you might need to add: e1 as extra settings/initialization string in order for the log to display the number instead of just ##'s - see www.modemsite.com/56k/initmagic.asp ) 2) Another possibility is that the tone duration/spacing is too fast for the phone company equipment to decipher. Aloha! Richard. |
