Paul Prince Tl Posts: 4	Posted - 8/7/2000 3:52:24 PM       Hello- We've got a large number of acoustic couplers we'd like to use to connect to the internet with, using a large variety of cell phones owned by our sales people. Is it possible to configure the DUNs somehow so that the modem protocols do not try to measure line characteristics? I expect that the problem is with the time delay involved with mobile phones. I've tried GSM mobile phones and others, and many modems. They always connect (answer), but never agree on conditions to communicate (handshape tones continue on until they finally disconnect). PRP

Paul Prince Tl Posts: 4	Posted - 8/9/2000 4:55:40 PM       Richard- You're right, 300 baud is worthless today, but 9600 bps would be OK for our sales persons. We can connect and satisfy the handshake protocols on several PORTABLE phones with the acoustic couplers, and connect at 9600 and slightly higher. Since cell phones are able to connect at 9600 why can't we find configuration strings to get this to work? You'd think that once connection is made, and audio is going back and forth, if we could disable phone line testing, or something, we should be able to force communication at 9600, or at least 4800 bts. Any ideas? PRP
