Hi Richard

I need help with the modem I bought a while back. It’s a USR5668B Message Modem. I had bought it as it supports callerid. I'm using the Shared Fax Service on Windows 2000 Server. My Problem is that I am not able to retrieve Caller ID from the Fax Console. I checked with the telecom and have also checked the Modem Logs, which shows Caller Id. After much scrutiny, the callerid INF strings might need changes.

Here`s the INF string

quote:

[CID]
HKR, EnableCallerID,1,, "AT#CID=1<cr>"
HKR,,CallerIDOutSide,, "O"
HKR,,CallerIDPrivate,, "P"
HKR, Responses, "<cr><lf>DATE = ", 1,93,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
HKR, Responses, "TIME = ", 1,94,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
HKR, Responses, "NAME = ", 1,96,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
HKR, Responses, "NMBR = ", 1,95,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
HKR, Responses, "MESG = ", 1,97,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00

Heres the Modem Log

Ive noticed that Im not receiving the "Interpreted response: Informative" for each line of the callerid...Could that be the problem?

the following below is what i have found from another website

Sorry for such a long time to answer your query....!
Anyway,
do you know whether Windows 2000 Server Shared Fax is supposed to support caller id?

I think that the 2nd log you include is identifying the last <cr> as informative, but not treating the caller id info any differently.

My 1st suspicion would be that Win2k Server Shared Fax doesn't support caller id [properly].

One thing you might try - create a new copy of the .inf file and change the HKR line for NMBR= to include the actual number that will come from a test call, i.e. NMBR = 8816970
and see if it's reported. (If it is, it would still appear to me to be a problem with the Fax Software, not anything any modem would fix.)

Aloha! Richard.
