I'm using it on the same line as the phone. Reading up on it I see that I should have a fax that can distinguish between incoming phone calls and incoming fax calls if I want to do this successfully. Is that true? Can my machine do that? If it can't what must I do to use it in receive mode? regards, ab :) |

Smartlink was purchased some time ago by Conexant, which stopped suport/development of drivers for the Smartlink line. www.modemsite.com/56k/smartlink.asp Aloha! Richard. |

No matter. It works well enough. Perhaps it won't receive faxes successfully automatically when we're not here, but it can receive manually okay, we've tested that, and of course it sends alright. I wanted to use the Call Corder software, too, for recording calls and it doesn't seem to be able to work with this modem, but that's no great setback either. thanks for your input. regards, ab :) |
