v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 12/10/2008 1:00:39 PM The modem needs to have certain of the RS-232 signals 'high' in order to answer - in particular the DTR signal. you could do this with a breakout box that would allow you to force the DTR (data-terminal-ready) signal high by tying it into the DSR (data-set-ready) signal. You MIGHT be able to do this by giving modem commands to ignore DTR (AT&D0) You could also do this with a custom made cable or modifying cable to tie these signals together. (The modem supplies DSR to indicate the modem is on. The computer, or terminal device, normally supplies the DTR signal to tell the modem the terminal is on.) You could also do this with just an RS-232 connector, jumpering the DSR pin to the DTR pin.
