charles Tl Posts: 5879 USA | Posted - 8/21/2004 7:38:54 AM Might try this. Double-click the speaker icon on the task bar at the bottom of the desktop. (alternatively, you can click Start then All Programs then Accessories then Entertainment then Volume Control). The Volume Control window opens. Click Options at the top then click Properties. In the Adjust Volume For box, make certain Playback is selected. Scroll through the list at the bottom of this window and make certain there is a check mark in the box in front of Phone. Click OK to close the Properties window. You will now see a new volume control with the title Phone. This will adjust the volume of the modem connection monitoring. If you do not wish to hear the modem connection sound, click the Mute check box at the bottom of the Phone volume control. This will effectively turn off the modem connection sound. |

v.Richard Tl Posts: 6222 USA | Posted - 8/23/2004 8:32:29 AM A prior poster on the Forum who upgraded to 8.31 indicated that the only obvious effect of the upgrade was loss of speaker sound. I would suggest you verify that you've successfully changed the driver from 8.31 to 8.30. Aloha! Richard. |
RSHOOTER Tl Posts: 18 USA | Posted - 8/24/2004 3:57:56 AM Well Richard, Query Modem shows 8.30 installed and no sound. ??? |
RSHOOTER Tl Posts: 18 USA | Posted - 8/25/2004 4:36:56 AM I appreciate all the fine suggestions that were given but I am getting conviced that this is a defective Modem card. Any suggestions on a replacement Modem to buy? Thanks very much. |

Anyway, I downloaded it and now there is normal sound from the Modem!!! So far it is holding. Go figure!!! |
